John La Puma Biography
John La Puma, MD is a board-certified internist, professionally trained chef, and two-time New York Times bestselling author. He founded the field of Culinary Medicine, now taught in roughly 80 percent of U.S. medical schools and worldwide, and developed the first skills-based Nature-as-Medicine CME course in the United States, at UCLA. His latest book, "Indoor Epidemic: 93% Inside Steals Sleep, Focus & Years—The 7% Outdoor Rx Restores Them," hit #1 in Sleep Medicine on Amazon and won the 2026 International Book Award in Health: Alternative Medicine.
With Leeza Gibbons and Joan Lunden, Dr. La Puma co-hosted the national cable weekly series "Health Corner" for Lifetime TV for five years and 120 episodes. He currently stewards La Puma Farms, his USDA Certified Organic regenerative farm in Santa Barbara, and always brings a treat from the garden to share.
