Grimes

Claire Boucher, known professionally as Grimes, is a Canadian musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer recognized for her fusion of dream pop, R&B, electronic, and hip-hop influences. Her music incorporates futuristic elements and is marked by ethereal soundscapes and soprano vocals, appealing to a wide range of audiences. Albums such as "Visions" and "Art Angels" have integrated elements of country and metal, broadening her musical reach within the electronic and pop music industries.

Boucher moved to Montreal to study neuroscience at McGill University before beginning her music career under the name Grimes. Drawing inspiration from the layered structures of Panda Bear's "Person Pitch," her early work was released through Arbutus Records and included albums such as "Halfaxa" and "Geidi Primes," which drew from Frank Herbert's Dune series.

Her third studio album, "Visions," released under 4AD, received critical acclaim and appeared on numerous year-end lists. The album won a Juno Award for Electronic Album of the Year. After signing with Roc Nation, Boucher released the single "Go" and collaborated with Bleachers on the song "Entropy" for the HBO series "Girls." She also released the single "REALiTi."

"Art Angels," her fourth studio album, topped Billboard's Alternative Album Chart and reached number two on the Billboard Top Independent Album Chart. The album featured collaborations with Janelle Monáe and Taiwanese rapper Aristophanes. Boucher continued her creative partnerships by working with singer-songwriter HANA on The Ac!d Reign Chronicles, a series of self-produced videos filmed during their European tour.

Her fifth studio album, "Miss Anthropocene," explored themes of climate change and human extinction. The album included singles such as "Violence," a collaboration with i_o, and "4ÆM," which was featured in the video game Cyberpunk 2077, where Boucher voiced the character Lizzy Wizzy. The album title reflects her interest in unconventional subject matter within electronic and pop music.

Boucher signed with Columbia Records, expanding her presence in the music industry. She served as a judge on the TV show "Alter Ego" and appeared on programs such as "Saturday Night Live" and in music videos including Doja Cat's "Need to Know." Known for frequent collaborations with other artists, Boucher has worked with The Weeknd on a song and announced her sixth studio album, "Book 1."
