Erin Brockovich

Erin Brockovich is an environmental activist and consumer advocate recognized for her role in building a legal case against Pacific Gas & Electric Company over the contamination of drinking water in Hinkley, California, with hexavalent chromium. The case resulted in a $333 million settlement, one of the largest direct-action lawsuit settlements in United States history. Despite not having a formal law education, Brockovich played a significant part in filing the case and advancing environmental justice.

Her work was the subject of the Oscar-nominated film "Erin Brockovich," starring Julia Roberts as Brockovich and Albert Finney as attorney Ed Masry. Roberts' portrayal earned an Academy Award, bringing international attention to Brockovich's efforts in environmental law and consumer protection. Brockovich's television projects include ABC's special "Challenge America with Erin Brockovich" and hosting the Lifetime series "Final Justice with Erin Brockovich" for three seasons, which highlighted women overcoming adversity. She also served as executive producer on the ABC drama series Rebel, inspired by her life.

As president of Brockovich Research & Consulting, Brockovich has participated in environmental projects and anti-pollution lawsuits, including cases involving chromium contamination in Willits, California, and a settlement near PG&E's Kettleman Hills compressor station. She has raised awareness about PFAS, or "forever chemicals," which are linked to health concerns such as fertility issues and cancer.

Brockovich is the author of the New York Times Business Bestseller "Take It From Me: Life's a Struggle, But You Can Win" and "Superman's Not Coming," which addresses water quality and the national water crisis. She founded the Erin Brockovich Foundation, a nonprofit organization focused on educating and empowering communities in the pursuit of clean water.

For more than three decades, Brockovich has investigated environmental contamination, corporate misconduct, and public health issues, collaborating with communities to promote corporate accountability. Her recent work includes raising awareness about the environmental impact of AI data centers on water resources and energy infrastructure. Brockovich is a frequent speaker on environmental advocacy, water safety, and grassroots empowerment, addressing audiences worldwide.
