Dennis Gage is a television host, producer, and automotive enthusiast recognized as the face of "My Classic Car," one of the longest-running and highest-rated programs in automotive television. Gage is known for his handlebar moustache and the catchphrase with which he ends every episode: "Honor the timeless classics." He attended North Central College, majoring in chemistry and physics, and earned recognition for research in quantum physics. After obtaining his bachelor's degree, Gage pursued a career in music, playing pedal steel guitar in country-rock bands and opening for acts such as Charlie Daniels and Waylon Jennings. He later earned a doctorate in chemistry from the University of Idaho.
Gage began his professional career at Procter & Gamble as a product development scientist, working on food products and renewing his interest in classic cars. He later became director of global product development at a Bristol-Myers Squibb company, contributing to the development of products such as Boost nutritional energy drink. A modeling opportunity led to a local commercial, a camera test, and eventually a pilot episode of "My Classic Car." Gage co-founded a production company and launched the series, which quickly gained popularity.
Premiering as a weekly show on TNN and later moving to SPEED, "My Classic Car" became one of the highest-rated programs in automotive television, reaching its 30th season and airing on MotorTrend, MAVTV, Rev'n, and various streaming platforms. The series features classic automobile shows and collections, primarily in the United States but occasionally abroad, and includes episodes focused on celebrities and notable car collectors such as Jay Leno. The show covers a wide range of topics within automotive culture, including collecting, building, racing, finding, and restoring cars and motorcycles.
Gage also serves as executive producer for motorcycle programs such as "Trippin' on Two Wheels" and "Corbin's Ride On," as well as the reality series "Texas Hardtails" and the independent film "Novem." As a vehicle enthusiast, Gage maintains a personal collection that includes a '63 Studebaker GT Hawk, '56 Lincoln Premiere, '63 Thunderbird, and classic motorcycles such as a '69 BMW R60US and a '68 Moto Guzzi V7.
Gage has received honors including the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award, the Lee Iacocca Award, and induction into the Specialty Equipment Market Association Hall of Fame. He has served on the SEMA Board of Directors and several academic and industry advisory boards. Gage has also served as announcer for the Car Club Showcase, part of the Hilton Head Island Motoring Festival & Concours d'Elegance.
