David Ajala

David Ajala is a British actor of Nigerian Yoruba heritage whose career spans stage, screen, and film. Ajala joined an afterschool program at the Anna Scher Theatre before earning a Bachelor of Arts in Acting from the Court Theatre Training Company, awarded by Buckinghamshire New University. He began his career performing with the Royal Shakespeare Company at the Courtyard Theater in Stratford-upon-Avon and has appeared in productions of "The Witness," "Hamlet," and "A Midsummer Night's Dream" at The National Theatre, Royal Court Theatre, and The Almeida Theatre.

Ajala made his screen debut in "Kidulthood" and received a Royal Television Society Award for best acting performance. He appeared in "The Dark Knight," "Fast & Furious 6," and "Jupiter Ascending," building a presence in major Hollywood productions. His stage work includes roles ranging from Shakespeare to contemporary plays, such as portraying NFL player Jim Brown in "One Night in Miami."

On television, Ajala has held lead and recurring roles in science fiction, drama, and crime series. He starred in two seasons of the USA Network series "Falling Water," appeared in the Syfy limited series "Nightflyers" based on the George R.R. Martin novel, and played Manchester Black in the CW's "Supergirl." Ajala's television breakthrough came with his role as Cleveland Book Booker in "Star Trek: Discovery," where he served as a series regular through the show's conclusion. The role brought him recognition among global audiences and established his status in science fiction television. He also appears in the film "Italian Studies" with Vanessa Kirby.
