Dr. Peter van Eijk Biography

Peter van Eijk leads his audience to new insights in the management of complex information technology. He connects people with technology. His extensive education and experience enables him to bring insights from wide ranging disciplines to developments and trends. His presentations are inspiring and often provocative. In addition to his activities as a speaker and consultant he writes a weekly column in 'Computable', a Dutch trade publication.

Technological innovation goes hand in hand with changes in social and business relations between people. Information technology enables people to lead a more productive and comfortable life. This is true on the Internet, within organizations and between organizations. The full potential of this, however, is often frustrated by misunderstandings over technology, culture and management or business agreements. Peter’s strength is in shedding light on these misunderstandings and exploring new possibilities, in order to help people prepare for the future.

Peter van Eijk studied computer science, mathematics and psychology at the University of Groningen. He did his Ph.D. research at the University of Twente, where he also helped build the Telematics department. He expanded this international research experience at AT&T Bell Labs in Murray Hill, New Jersey.

He continued his career in the private sector, and held various management positions at the automation subsidiary of Dutch Tail, EDS, and at Internet providers.

Building on this experience he worked with Bakkenist Management Consultants, and Deloitte Consultancy. Currently he is independent and works as a consultant, creative trouble shooter, presenter and coach.
