Zak Ebrahim

Zak Ebrahim is an American peace campaigner, author, and public speaker known for his work in promoting tolerance, nonviolence, and the power of personal choice. He is the son of El Sayyid Nosair, who was convicted of assassinating Meir Kahane, founder of the Jewish Defense League, and later implicated in the World Trade Center bombing. Ebrahim's early life was shaped by the consequences of his father's actions, including frequent relocations and social challenges stemming from his family's notoriety.

Throughout his childhood, Ebrahim experienced isolation and bullying as he moved through numerous schools. Despite exposure to radical beliefs within his family, he questioned these ideologies and ultimately rejected them. For years, he concealed his family history, but later recognized that his background provided a unique perspective on the roots of extremism and the possibility of change. Ebrahim eventually changed his name and began speaking publicly about his experiences, advocating for peace and nonviolence.

Ebrahim delivered a TED talk and authored the book, "The Terrorist's Son: A Story of Choice." His TED talk has been viewed by millions, and his book received the American Library Association Alex Award. The memoir has been recognized by publications such as People magazine and the Washington Post for its insights into the impact of violence on families and the importance of empathy.

In his work, Ebrahim challenges the assumption that individuals raised in extremist environments are destined to perpetuate violence.
