
Dr. Tina Opie is an organizational expert, author, and keynote speaker whose work focuses on leadership, workplace culture, and equity. Opie serves as Chief Vision Officer of Opie Consulting Group LLC, is the founder of Shared Sisterhood, a Visiting Scholar at Harvard Business School, and an associate professor of management at Babson College, where she teaches organizational behavior courses. She holds an MBA from the Darden School of Business and a doctorate in management from New York University's Stern School of Business. Before entering academia, Opie worked as a consultant at A.T. Kearney, a global management consulting firm, and as a commercial banker at Bank of America.
Opie is recognized as the creator of the Shared Sisterhood movement, which aims to drive gender and racial equity in organizations. Her book, "Shared Sisterhood," co-authored with Beth Livingston, outlines strategies for building workplace equity through vulnerability, trust, empathy, and risk-taking. The book details a three-part process: examining personal assumptions about race, ethnicity, gender, and power; bridging divides between women of all backgrounds through authentic relationships; and advancing women throughout organizations. "Shared Sisterhood" was included on Forbes' list of 10 Best Business Books and Opie was named to the Thinkers50 Breakthrough Idea Award Shortlist.
Opie researches diversity, inclusion, equity, identity, culture, fashion, authenticity, and professionalism. She has held a Visiting Scholar position at Harvard Business School following her MLK Visiting Professor/Scholar appointment at MIT. Her honors include recognition as a Poets & Quants Top 40 Undergraduate Business Professor and a place on the Harvard Business Review 100. Her research has been published in academic journals such as Equality, Diversity and Inclusion: An International Journal, Fashion Studies, Frontiers in Psychology, Higher Education, and Organizational Dynamics.
With more than 20 years of experience, Opie combines practical and theoretical approaches to organizational leadership, diversity, and workplace culture. She has worked with organizations including American Express, Hulu, the NFL, the Forte Foundation, Harvard, and MIT.
