Stacy Allison

Stacy Allison became the first American woman to reach the summit of Mount Everest, climbing the world's highest peak as part of the Northwest American Everest Expedition. Allison ascended the Himalayan mountain using the southeast ridge route, completing the climb after an extended period on the mountain. Her achievement followed years of preparation, which began when she started major alpine climbing at age 21. Allison reached the summit of Denali, the highest point in North America, and participated in the first successful women's ascent of Ama Dablam. Her initial attempt on Everest was halted by a snowstorm, forcing her team to retreat to a snow cave before descending due to dangerous winds.

Allison continued her mountaineering career by leading a successful K2 expedition, where three of seven team members reached the summit. She also contributed to the first successful all-women ascent of Ama Dablam. These experiences shaped her approach to leadership and teamwork, which she has shared through appearances in Nike commercials and on television programs such as "Late Night with David Letterman" and "Good Morning America."

Allison has established a career as a keynote and motivational speaker, focusing on leadership, collaboration, team building, and risk management. Drawing from her mountaineering background and business expertise, she delivers presentations that address executive leadership, team dynamics, vision, and change management. Allison's insights have resonated with audiences across various industries.

As an author, Allison wrote "Beyond the Limits: A Woman's Triumph on Everest," an adventure narrative, and "Many Mountains to Climb: Reflections on Competence, Courage and Commitment," which applies lessons from climbing to professional and personal development. She also contributed a chapter on leadership to the book "Upward Bound."

In addition to her writing and speaking, Allison is president of Stacy Allison General Contracting, a residential building company. She serves on the Board of Trustees of National University and is chairperson for the American Lung Association's Climb for Clean Air fundraiser. Allison's work centers on motivating individuals and organizations to embrace leadership, teamwork, and risk-taking to achieve their goals.
