Richie Sambora

Richie Sambora is recognized as a guitarist, songwriter, and performer in the rock music industry, best known as the lead guitarist and co-architect of Bon Jovi's sound. A member of Bon Jovi from its formation, Sambora served as lead guitarist, provided backing vocals, and played a significant role in the band's songwriting. Together with Jon Bon Jovi, he co-wrote many of the band's major hits, including "Livin' on a Prayer," "Wanted Dead or Alive," "You Give Love a Bad Name," "I'll Be There for You," and "It's My Life." As a founding member, Sambora contributed to the band's status as one of the best-selling rock acts, co-writing more than 20 Top 40 hits and 11 Top 10 singles.

Bon Jovi's album "Slippery When Wet" spent eight weeks at the top of the Billboard 200, with singles "You Give Love a Bad Name" and "Livin' on a Prayer" both reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 100. "Slippery When Wet" was named the top-selling album by Billboard, and "Livin' on a Prayer" earned an MTV Video Music Award for Best Stage Performance. At the MTV Video Music Awards, Sambora and Jon Bon Jovi performed acoustic versions of "Livin' on a Prayer" and "Wanted Dead or Alive," a performance credited with influencing MTV Unplugged to feature major stadium acts. During his three decades with Bon Jovi, the band achieved global success, selling over 130 million albums and touring extensively.

Beyond Bon Jovi, Sambora has established a solo career, releasing three albums: "Stranger in This Town," "Undiscovered Soul," and "Aftermath of the Lowdown." His second solo album, "Undiscovered Soul," was produced by Don Was and features contributions from Chuck Leavell of The Rolling Stones, Rami Jaffee of The Wallflowers, and Steven Tyler of Aerosmith. Sambora also formed the duo RSO with guitarist Orianthi, releasing the album "Radio Free America." His guitar work has defined an era, and several of his co-written songs have surpassed one billion streams on Spotify.

Sambora was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Bon Jovi, reuniting with former bandmates for a performance at the induction ceremony. He and Jon Bon Jovi were also inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Sambora has received the Classic Rock Roll of Honour Award for Classic Songwriter, the Clio Award for Best Original Music in a Television Commercial, and the Ivor Novello Award for International Achievement in Songwriting. He was honored with the Stevie Ray Vaughan Award for his support of the MusiCares MAP Fund, which assists members of the music community facing addiction. Sambora was also awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Letters by Kean University.

Sambora has spoken openly about his personal struggles, including battles with alcoholism and prescription drug dependency, and has discussed his recovery journey. In the Bon Jovi documentary "When We Were Beautiful," he addressed his addiction to painkillers following an injury, crediting his bandmates and mother for their support. He has emphasized the importance of family and personal well-being. Sambora remains active musically and philanthropically, releasing digital singles such as "I Pray," "Livin' Alone," "Songs That Wrote My Life," and "Believe (In Miracles)," some of which have supported charitable causes. He performed at the Rock for Responders concert aboard USS Iowa to benefit first responders. Sambora continues to create and evolve within the music industry.
