Nikki Sixx Biography
Nikki Sixx (born Frank Carlton Serafino Feranna Jr.) is an American musician, songwriter, radio host and photographer, best known as the co-founder, bassist and primary songwriter of Mötley Crüe. Before forming the band in 1981, he played in Sister and later co-founded London with Lizzie Grey. Beyond Mötley Crüe, Sixx launched several side projects, including 58, Brides of Destruction and Sixx:A.M., the latter formed in 2006 alongside James Michael and DJ Ashba in connection with his memoir The Heroin Diaries. Sixx:A.M. entered an indefinite hiatus in 2021.
Sixx has also written and produced music with artists such as Alice Cooper, Lita Ford, Meat Loaf, Drowning Pool and Steve Jones. Outside music, he is an accomplished photographer and author of multiple best-selling books, including This Is Gonna Hurt and The First 21. He hosted the nationally syndicated rock radio show Sixx Sense from 2010 to 2017. In recent years, Sixx has remained active with Mötley Crüe’s global reunion tours while continuing his work in photography, writing and recovery advocacy.
