Neil Kumar

Dr. Neil Kumar is the CEO and founder of BridgeBio Pharma, a biotechnology company focused on developing medicines for patients with genetic diseases. Kumar established BridgeBio to target well-characterized genetic conditions, utilizing a decentralized business structure to accelerate drug discovery and development. Under his leadership, BridgeBio has advanced a diversified pipeline, achieving approval of multiple therapies and launching treatments such as "Attruby" for transthyretin amyloidosis with cardiomyopathy, positioning the company in the rare disease sector.

Kumar’s career combines scientific expertise with strategic leadership. Before founding BridgeBio, he was a principal at Third Rock Ventures, managing portfolio companies and focusing on new company formation. He also served as interim vice president of business development and operations at MyoKardia and worked as an associate principal at McKinsey & Company, where he contributed to personalized medicine initiatives for pharmaceutical and medical device clients. Kumar holds Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in chemical engineering from Stanford University and a Doctor of Philosophy in chemical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Kumar is a frequent speaker at industry events such as the Milken Institute Global Conference and BIO International Convention. He has authored peer-reviewed papers in oncology and systems biology, serves on the board of Global Genes, and is involved in founding and guiding other biotechnology ventures. Kumar’s leadership at BridgeBio has contributed to scientific and commercial progress in the biotech sector, challenging industry norms and advancing patient-centric innovation.
