Meena Harris

Meena Harris is a lawyer, entrepreneur, author, and theater producer recognized for her work at the intersection of business, media, and social advocacy. A graduate of Stanford University and Harvard Law School, Harris began her career in corporate law at Covington & Burling, followed by roles at Facebook and Slack Technologies. She later served as head of strategy and leadership at Uber, where she led efforts to reform the company’s internal culture. Harris has also worked as a senior advisor on policy and communications during a successful U.S. Senate campaign and served as a commissioner on the San Francisco Commission on the Status of Women.

Harris founded Phenomenal, a media company inspired by a Maya Angelou poem, which began as a statement fashion brand and evolved into a full-scale advocacy organization. The Phenomenal Woman Action Campaign addresses policy issues such as educational excellence, healthcare equity, criminal justice reform, gender parity in STEM, reproductive health, and political representation. The campaign has engaged ambassadors from across the entertainment and sports industries. Harris also oversees Phenomenal Media for written content and Phenomenal Productions for video and visual content, establishing her company as a comprehensive media enterprise.

In theater, Harris produced the Tony Award-winning musical "A Strange Loop," the Pulitzer Prize-winning work by Michael R. Jackson, and was nominated for producing "Suffs." She also co-produced a revival of "Death of a Salesman," contributing to contemporary American theater.

As a No. 1 New York Times bestselling author, Harris has written children’s books including "Kamala and Maya's Big Idea," "Ambitious Girl," "A Is for Ambitious," and "The Truth About Mrs. Claus." Her work in children’s literature focuses on diverse representation and empowerment for young girls of color. Harris is a board member at the National Women's Law Center and co-founder of Phenomenal Ventures, a venture capital firm supporting underrepresented founders in technology. Her career spans entrepreneurship, advocacy, publishing, and media, with a focus on social impact and representation.
