
Marilyn Alverio is a nationally recognized expert in multicultural marketing, with a career spanning more than two decades in leadership roles across major U.S. industries. Alverio is known for her work as the former national director of ethnic marketing for a Fortune 100 company, where she focused on sales, relationship management, and brand marketing initiatives targeting Latino, African American, and women business owners. Her experience includes positions in the financial services, health, airline, and pharmaceutical industries, where she developed expertise in sales management and multicultural brand strategy. Alverio has held leadership roles in marketing at American Airlines and Aetna.
After 25 years in the corporate sector, Alverio founded Ethnic Marketing Solutions, a Hartford-based company specializing in multicultural market strategy, e-business practices, sales and product development, event marketing, and capacity building for nonprofit organizations. She earned an MBA from University of Phoenix, concentrating on research related to multicultural markets. As a speaker, Alverio addresses topics such as multicultural marketing, diversity and inclusion, and leadership, and she produces and presents workshops, seminars, and symposiums for a range of audiences.
Alverio is the founder and CEO of Latinas & Power Corp., a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting Latinas in achieving leadership roles in their careers and communities. She established the annual Latinas and Power conference, which connects accomplished Latinas from various fields with young women aspiring to leadership. Notable speakers at the conference have included actress Rita Moreno and business executive Deborah Rosado Shaw. The organization also launched the Latinas in Leadership Institute, a six-month program that combines in-person group discussions, online classes, and a capstone project focused on leadership development and advancement in business and community sectors.
The Latinas and Power Corporation team released the report "The Latina Pathway to Excellence in a Post-Pandemic World," which informed the creation of a leadership institute aimed at supporting Latinas as leaders and advocates. Alverio volunteers for MassMutual's Leading with Diversity manager training program and speaks at national events on diversity and inclusion, as well as women and leadership. She has been active in the Connecticut community for more than 30 years, serving on the executive committee for the Connecticut Health Foundation board of directors, the World Affairs Council, as co-chair of the Spanish American Merchants Association marketing team, and as an advisor to the Urban League of Greater Hartford and the United Way of Greater Hartford marketing committee.
