
Lou Aronica is an editor, publisher, author, and collaborator whose career has influenced genre fiction and popular nonfiction publishing. Aronica began his publishing career at Bantam Books, advancing to a senior executive role. He launched the Bantam Spectra imprint at age 27, overseeing the publication of New York Times bestsellers by authors such as Arthur C. Clarke, Isaac Asimov, William Gibson, Neal Stephenson, and Neil Gaiman. His first acquisition for Bantam Spectra, David Brin's "Startide Rising," received both a Hugo and a Nebula Award. During his tenure, Aronica acquired five consecutive Nebula Award winners and co-edited the "Full Spectrum" anthology series, with "Full Spectrum 4" earning the World Fantasy Award for Best Anthology.
Aronica later served as senior vice president and publisher at Avon Books, where he launched the Eos science fiction and fantasy imprint and contributed to the growth of the company's romance program. After leaving corporate publishing, Aronica co-founded The Fiction Studio, a creative development company, and established The Story Plant, an independent publishing house focused on fiction and author development. As president and publisher of The Story Plant, he has supported a long-term approach to building novelists' careers. Aronica is also a novelist, with national bestsellers including "The Forever Year," "Blue," "The Journey Home," and "When You Went Away." He has served as president of Novelists, Inc.
Aronica is recognized for his collaborations on nonfiction bestsellers. He co-authored "The Element" and "Finding Your Element" with Sir Ken Robinson, both New York Times bestsellers addressing personal development and education. Additional collaborations include "Creative Schools" and "You, Your Child, and School" with Robinson, "The Culture Code" with Clotaire Rapaille, "Limitless" with Jim Kwik, and "The Greatest You" with Trent Shelton.
