Larry Hryb Biography
Larry Hryb spent 23 years at Microsoft, most of them as director of programming for Xbox Live, where he served as the public face of the Xbox brand under the name Major Nelson. He launched one of Microsoft's first podcasts in 2005, was part of an Emmy Award-winning team, and is recognized as gaming's first influencer and a pioneer in community building at scale. Hryb led communications through the Xbox One crisis in 2013 and the brand recovery that followed, helping build Xbox Live from launch to over 1 billion accounts.
Before Microsoft, Hryb was a radio broadcaster at Clear Channel's WKSS in Hartford. He holds a degree from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. Hryb speaks, advises and consults on communications strategy, crisis response and building audience trust at scale.
