Lark Voorhies

Lark Voorhies is an actress, singer, author, and producer whose career spans more than three decades in the entertainment industry. She began as one of the original stars of the television series "Good Morning, Miss Bliss" before gaining widespread recognition as Lisa Turtle in "Saved by the Bell." Voorhies' portrayal of Lisa Turtle, a fashion-forward and witty character, became a defining role in 1990s television and contributed to the show's status as a cultural phenomenon.

Voorhies won two Young Artist Awards for her work on "Saved by the Bell" and was nominated for six. She reprised her role as Lisa Turtle in made-for-TV movies such as "Saved by the Bell: Hawaiian Style" and "Saved by the Bell: Wedding in Las Vegas," as well as in the spin-offs "Saved by the Bell: The College Years" and "Saved by the Bell: The New Class." Her presence on the show provided representation for young African-American viewers during a time when such visibility was limited in mainstream television.

After "Saved by the Bell," Voorhies held recurring roles on the soap operas "Days of Our Lives" and "The Bold and the Beautiful." She left "The Bold and the Beautiful" due to her refusal to participate in sex scenes, citing her religious beliefs as a Jehovah's Witness. Voorhies continued to expand her television career with appearances in "In the House," where she played the girlfriend and later wife of Dr. Max Stanton, and on "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air." She also guest-starred in the "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" episode "Life Support." In film, Voorhies played Lauren, a Harvard student, in "How High."

Voorhies later reprised her role as Lisa Turtle in the "Saved by the Bell" revival series on Peacock. Beyond acting, she has self-published three books: "Reciprocity," "Trek of the Cheshire," and "A True Light." She also founded and served as the lead singer of the alternative band Third Degree. Voorhies has publicly discussed her experiences with mental health challenges and uses her platform to advocate for awareness and understanding. She remains active in the entertainment industry, participating in conventions, autograph shows, and commercial projects, continuing to engage with fans and maintain her presence in television and pop culture.
