Hunter Biden

Hunter Biden is an American lawyer, businessman and artist, and the second son of President Joe Biden. He was born Feb. 4, 1970, in Wilmington, Delaware, and is a graduate of Georgetown University and Yale Law School. Biden served as a board member and consultant for several companies in the finance, energy and international sectors, roles that later drew scrutiny because of his family ties.

Early in his career, Biden worked in banking, investment and public policy, including service on the board of Amtrak and as a co-founder of the investment firm Rosemont Seneca Partners. His business dealings, particularly those involving foreign companies, became a focal point of political controversy during his father’s tenure as vice president and later as president, though no evidence emerged that President Biden was involved in or benefited from his son’s work.

Biden has publicly acknowledged long-standing struggles with substance abuse, which he has said affected both his personal life and professional judgment. Those struggles have been documented in interviews, court filings and his 2021 memoir, “Beautiful Things,” in which he detailed his addiction and recovery.

In recent years, Biden has faced federal criminal cases involving taxes and a firearm, as well as extensive public and congressional scrutiny. He has maintained that he takes responsibility for his personal conduct while rejecting claims that his actions implicated his father. Alongside his legal matters, Biden has pursued a career as a visual artist, exhibiting and selling his work through galleries in the United States.
