George Clayton Fatheree III Biography
George is most recognized as the attorney who secured the landmark return of Bruce’s Beach – marking the first (and only) time in U.S. history that the government returned property to a Black family. An accomplished lawyer, George also led the rescue of the Ebony and Jet magazines’ photography archive out of bankruptcy, secured reparations for Holocaust survivors and advocated before California’s Supreme Court on behalf of students with disabilities.
George is a sought after public speaker and has developed a reputation as an engaging master storyteller. He has presented internationally to corporate, government and university audiences at conferences, corporate retreats and speaking salons.
George received the Living Legends Awards for Service to Humanity, was the Grand Marshal for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Kingdom Day Parade, was twice named California Lawyer Attorney of the Year, and in 2024, George was a recipient of the prestigious Rockefeller Bellagio Residency.
