Errin Haines

Errin Haines began her journalism career as an intern at the Atlanta Daily World and the Los Angeles Times, laying a strong foundation for her future endeavors. She then held staff positions at esteemed publications such as The Washington Post and the Orlando Sentinel. From 2017 to 2020, Haines served as the national writer on race, politics, and culture for the Associated Press. Her in-depth and insightful reporting on these subjects has garnered her a reputation for being a critical voice in journalism.

In 2020, Haines co-published an article on the Breonna Taylor case with The Washington Post, which played a significant role in bringing national attention to the case. In the same year, she made history by being the first reporter to interview Kamala Harris after her historic vice presidential nomination was announced. Her notable achievements in 2020 also included becoming an on-air analyst for MSNBC.

Throughout her career, Haines has been active in various journalistic associations. She served on the board of directors of the National Association of Black Journalists from 2011 to 2015 and currently serves on the board of managers for the Lenfest Institute. Her exceptional work has been recognized with numerous awards including the Emerging Journalist of the Year award in 2006 from the National Association of Black Journalists, an Award of Excellence from the Atlanta Press Club in 2009, the Print Journalist of the Year title by the Philadelphia Association of Black Journalists in 2017, and the Vernon Jarrett Medal for Journalistic Excellence from Morgan State University in 2020. Her current role is the editor-at-large for"The 19th*, a nonprofit news outlet that she founded.
