Eric Ripert Biography
Eric Ripert is a celebrated French chef, author, and television host best known as the culinary force behind New York’s renowned Le Bernardin. Born in Antibes, France, and raised partly in Andorra, Ripert developed a passion for food early on and trained at culinary school in Perpignan before working at prestigious Parisian restaurants including La Tour d’Argent and Jamin under Joël Robuchon. After moving to the United States in 1989, he worked with Jean-Louis Palladin in Washington, D.C., and later joined Le Bernardin in New York, where he became executive chef and helped the restaurant earn and maintain its iconic four-star rating from The New York Times for more than two decades.
Under Ripert’s leadership, Le Bernardin has earned multiple James Beard Awards, including “Outstanding Chef” and “Best Restaurant Design,” and expanded its offerings with Aldo Sohm Wine Bar and Le Bernardin Privé. A two-time Daytime Emmy winner for his PBS series "Avec Eric," Ripert is also the author of acclaimed cookbooks and the memoir "32 Yolks," a New York Times bestseller. Beyond the kitchen, he serves as Vice Chairman of City Harvest, helping to combat hunger across New York City.
