Dr. Anisha Abraham

Dr. Anisha Abraham, MD, MPH, is a board-certified pediatrician and adolescent health specialist with more than 25 years of experience in global clinical care, research, and public health. Abraham serves as chief of the Division of Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine at Children's National Hospital in Washington, D.C., and as a professor in the Department of Pediatrics at George Washington University. Her academic background includes a BA/MD program at Boston University, a pediatric residency at Walter Reed Hospital, a fellowship in adolescent medicine at Children's National Medical Center, and a master's in public health from George Washington University.

Abraham has held leadership roles such as chief of adolescent medicine at Georgetown University Hospital and Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army, and medical director of a school-based clinic. Her clinical expertise includes eating disorders, obesity prevention, adolescent mental health, and supporting cross-cultural youth. Abraham has lived and worked internationally, serving on faculty at the University of Amsterdam and the Chinese University of Hong Kong School of Public Health, contributing a global perspective to her practice and research.

Abraham is the author of "Raising Global Teens: A Practical Handbook for Parenting in the 21st Century," which addresses adolescent health topics such as social media, stress, body image, substance use, and identity. She produced the award-winning short film "One Small Visit" and delivered a TEDx talk titled "Demystifying Teens." Her research has been published in peer-reviewed journals including Pediatrics and the Journal of Adolescent Medicine, and she has received several faculty teaching awards.

Abraham has been interviewed by CNN, NPR, NBC, Fox News, BBC, and The Washington Post, and has led workshops for organizations such as the U.S. State Department, Delta Airlines, and Shell Oil. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the International Association of Adolescent Health, and serves on the board of the Society for Adolescent Health and Medicine. Abraham addresses audiences of parents, educators, and healthcare professionals on topics related to adolescent medicine, global health, and youth development.
