Derek Carr

Derek Carr, known for his eleven-season tenure in the National Football League (NFL), played for the Oakland / Las Vegas Raiders from 2014 to 2022 and then moved to the New Orleans Saints from 2023 to 2024. As a four-time Pro Bowler, Carr showcased his prowess on the field and was a significant asset to his teams. His accomplishments extend to his college days, where he received the Sammy Baugh Trophy in 2013 and was named the Mountain West (MW) Offensive Player of the Year twice, in addition to being a first-team All-MW selection for two consecutive years. He also holds Raiders franchise records in passing yards, touchdowns, and completions, and was instrumental in taking the Raiders to the playoffs in the 2016 and 2021 seasons.

Despite his success, Carr's career was not without challenges. He suffered a severe rotator cuff injury, which led to his retirement announcement in 2025. However, his records remain unbroken, such as his 5,083 yards and 50 touchdowns in the 2013 season, which led to him being awarded the nation's top collegiate passer. Carr's jersey number 4 was retired by Fresno State in 2017, a testament to his outstanding performance during his college years. He also set the Raiders franchise record for the most passing touchdowns in a single regular-season game by a rookie.

Throughout his career, Carr demonstrated a high level of skill and dedication. He won his first NFL game with a fourth-quarter comeback against the Kansas City Chiefs and finished his rookie season with 3,270 passing yards and 21 touchdowns. In 2016, he was named to the Pro Bowl, replacing Aaron Rodgers, and set a franchise record with 513 passing yards in a game. He was also named AFC Offensive Player of the Month for September 2021.

Carr is a Christian and has said his faith is the most important thing in his life. He has tattoos on his wrists, the left citing a verse from the Biblical Book of Jeremiah and the right depicting a Chi Rho. He is dedicated to helping his community through his work with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
