Courtney B. Vance

Courtney B. Vance has a long and diverse career in the performing arts, with an impressive body of work spanning both stage and screen. He received recognition for his stage work with a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Play for his performance in "Lucky Guy." On the screen, his portrayal of Johnnie Cochran in "The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story" earned him Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie, and a Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Actor in a Movie/Miniseries. He also received an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for his role in "Lovecraft Country."

Vance's range is further demonstrated by his roles in notable films including "Hamburger Hill," "The Hunt for Red October," "The Preacher's Wife," "Final Destination 5," "Terminator Genisys," and "The Mummy." He also lent his voice to the narrator in Wes Anderson's animated film "Isle of Dogs" and portrayed Cobra Bubbles in Disney's live-action reimagining of "Lilo & Stitch" released in 2025. His work on television extends to portraying Assistant District Attorney Ron Carver in the NBC series "Law & Order: Criminal Intent," and more recently, playing C. L. Franklin in National Geographic's "Genius: Aretha."

Off the screen, Vance is deeply involved in the acting community. He currently serves as the president of the Screen Actors Guild Foundation and sits on the board of directors of The Actors Center in New York City. Additionally, he uses his platform to give back to the community, actively supporting the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
