Anthony Christian Ocampo

Anthony Ocampo, Ph.D., is a scholar and writer who focuses on race, immigration, and LGBTQ issues. He is Assistant Professor of Sociology at California State Polytechnic University and a Ford Foundation Fellow. He is the author of "The Latinos of Asia: How Filipino Americans Break the Rules of Race." Dr. Ocampo is currently working on his second book, "To Be Brown and Gay in LA," which chronicles the lives of gay men of color from immigrant families.

Dr. Ocampo is part of SpeakOut-The Institute for Democratic Education and Culture, a network of speakers and artists dedicated to the advancement of education, racial and social justice, cultural literacy, leadership development, and activism. He has been invited to speak and give workshops based on his research and writings on race, immigration, and LGBTQ rights. He has spoken to faculty, students, and community organizations at campuses throughout the country, including Stanford University, University of Pennsylvania, and the University of California.

Ocampo is also the Director of Campus Workshops for the National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity (NCFDD). As part of the NCFDD team, he has worked with faculty members in the liberal arts, sciences, and engineering to help them increase their research and writing productivity while achieving work-life balance. Most recently, Dr. Ocampo has given workshops at the University of California-San Diego, Dartmouth College, the University of Wisconsin, and Oregon State University.

A native Los Angelino, Ocampo is a graduate of Stanford University (BA 2003, MA 2004) and UCLA (MA 2006, PhD 2011).
