Annie Jean-Baptiste

Annie Jean-Baptiste is a technology executive and the Head of Product Inclusion & Equity at Google, where she has played a central role in shaping how the company approaches inclusive product development. Jean-Baptiste became Google's first Director of Product Inclusion and Equity after joining the company as an account manager and later transitioning into diversity and inclusion. She leveraged Google's 20% project policy to explore the integration of inclusion into technology products, expanding the scope of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) beyond talent and recruiting.

As Head of Product Inclusion & Equity, Jean-Baptiste leads strategy across Google and consults with Alphabet companies on consultation, communications, scale, and research. She established a framework to ensure underrepresented users are considered throughout the product design process. Her team's initiatives include the introduction of "women-owned" and "LGBTQ-owned" attributes for business profiles on Google, as well as enhancements to the Google Pixel camera to better represent all skin tones in photos and videos. Jean-Baptiste applies the curb cut effect philosophy, which posits that designing for marginalized groups leads to broader benefits for all users.

Jean-Baptiste has contributed to products serving more than 1 billion users and is the author of the book "Building for Everyone," recognized by Bloomberg as one of the best business books. The book addresses inclusive product development across 12 dimensions of diversity. She has also written "Empowerment for All." Jean-Baptiste is the founder of Equity Army and has developed product principles that organizations across industries use as a blueprint for inclusive technology development.

Outside of Google, Jean-Baptiste is active in academic and civic spheres. She serves as an intrapreneur in residence at the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education, facilitates the Chief Learning Officer Business Acumen program, and is a member of the CTA Health Equity and Access Leadership Coalition. She also serves on the IEEE Executive Committee, Ethically Aligned Design committee, and co-chairs the DEI committee. Jean-Baptiste is a former American Heart Association spokesperson and a One Young World ambassador, focusing on healthy lifestyles in underserved communities.
