
Anjali Bindra Patel is a lawyer, Certified Diversity Executive (CDE), and workplace diversity expert whose career centers on building inclusive, equitable communities. Patel joined Georgetown Law as its chief diversity officer, becoming the institution's first person to hold that title. In this role, she leads the development and implementation of strategic initiatives to foster a culture of belonging and excellence among students, faculty, and staff. Patel brings more than two decades of experience in diversity, equity, employment law, and inclusion leadership to one of the nation's prominent law schools.
Patel's path to Georgetown Law was shaped by a varied career at the intersection of law and human capital. During law school, she participated in the Judge Advocate General's Legal Internship Program, working abroad as part of the U.S. Army. She previously served as global director of diversity, equity, and inclusion at Winrock International, a nonprofit humanitarian organization, and was co-founder and CEO of SweaTours, a diversity and inclusion consulting firm. Patel has designed and executed DEI-focused policies, processes, procedures, and programs for technology companies, nonprofits, and academic institutions across the United States. She has spoken at TEDx, Google Start-Up, Facebook, and other venues, and served as editor at large for Arianna Huffington/Thrive Global's "Overcoming Lawyer Burnout."
Patel is also an author whose writing has extended her influence beyond the legal field. She is the author of "Humanity at Work," an Amazon bestseller that explores the challenges and opportunities of remote workforces in the context of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Patel is recognized for her expertise in designing tailored DEI policies and integrating well-being principles into leadership and staff development. She has chaired and spoken at numerous events and conferences, including the D.C. Bar Association Conference featuring former Attorney General Eric Holder and the Employee Wellness Summit for Legal Professionals. Patel has been named one of MOGUL's Top 100 DEI Leaders and has been featured on ABC News with Rebecca Jarvis and in various local television and media outlets.
At Georgetown Law, Patel has advanced a systems-oriented approach to diversity, equity, and inclusion, championing initiatives such as growing staff and faculty cultural competency and developing a resource library to diversify course materials and perspectives.
