Amy Purdy Biography
Amy Purdy is known for her accomplishments in multiple areas, from sports to entertainment. As a Paralympian, she secured a bronze medal in 2014 and a silver medal in 2018 in snowboard cross. This feat was followed by her co-founding of Adaptive Action Sports, a non-profit organization offering opportunities for individuals with physical disabilities to participate in action sports. Purdy officially retired from competitive sports in March 2022, but not before leaving a lasting impact in the field.
Transitioning from sports to the entertainment industry, Purdy showcased her versatility and determination. She was a runner-up in Season 18 of "Dancing with the Stars," demonstrating her resilience and adaptability. Her adventurous spirit led her to participate in "The Amazing Race" Season 21 alongside her now-husband, Daniel Gale.
In 2014, Purdy published a memoir titled "On My Own Two Feet: From Losing My Legs To Learning The Dance Of Life," offering readers an intimate look into her journey. Recognized for her impact, Purdy was named one of ESPNW's Impact 25 in 2014 and one of Oprah's SuperSoul 100 visionaries and influential leaders in 2016.
