Albert Chanthaboury

Dr. Albert Chanthaboury is a higher education administrator, scholar, and advocate with a focus on equity, inclusion, and the advancement of historically underrepresented communities. A first-generation college graduate and the son of Thai immigrants, Chanthaboury earned a doctorate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, bringing both personal experience and academic expertise to his work in student affairs and institutional leadership.

At Northeastern University, Chanthaboury has served as director of the Asian American Center, a resource dedicated to supporting Asian American students through programming, mentorship, and community engagement. In this role, he has worked to increase the visibility and well-being of Asian and Asian American students while building coalitions with other identity-based communities across campus. Chanthaboury has also led The Mills Institute at Northeastern University, an institution focused on advancing justice through teaching, research, and career development.

Chanthaboury is a frequent speaker on topics including Asian American identity, microaggressions, and bias. He has presented at universities and conferences across the United States, including Northern Illinois University, University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, University of Illinois at Chicago, Wichita State University, and Butler University. His talks address Asian American Heritage Month, leadership summits, and student affairs conferences, reflecting his expertise in diversity, equity, and inclusion in higher education.

Chanthaboury's scholarly work includes research on identity development and mentorship in STEM education. His published research examines how mentors and family influence the STEM identity of Latina students through a collectivist lens, introducing the concept of a bonded approach to mentoring. His work is positioned at the intersection of equity, higher education, and student success, providing insight for institutions seeking to create more inclusive academic environments.
