Barrage Biography

Any Barrage performance offers up a diverse fusion of cultures, musical styles and incredible performance vitality. The cast of 11 musicians (7 violins, Guitar, Bass, Percussion, and Drums) delivers a performance of incredible energy and musical virtuosity that takes the audience on a musical journey through a variety of musical eras and cultural styles and always provides a memorable experience that will be enjoyed by everyone in the family.

The current touring production by Barrage is called Vagabond Tales and features an international, multi-talented cast performing an eclectic mix of music, song and dance that vividly illustrates the adventures of an enchanting group of travelers as they gather in celebration and friendship.

Vagabond Tales is framed within the recollections of an old man as he remembers his time in a roving troupe of Gypsy musicians, the adventures he undertook and the romance that shaped his life. The dynamic cast explores a wide range of musical selections while showcasing an impressive array of individual musical talents. Audiences are treated to an intoxicating journey that transcends time and culture by combining spellbinding energy, breathtaking musical virtuosity, unique choreography, colorful staging and stunning musical arrangements.

The 04/05 USA tour represents the third stop for the Vagabond Tales tour from Barrage having already completed a 6-week tour of Europe that included stops in London, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Poland as well as a 3 week tour of China with stops in Beijing, Houzhou, Wuhan, Huang Sui, Shijiazhuang and Chang Sha that included a television performance on the Chinese Central Television Network. The tour will also be heading back to Taiwan, China and Europe later in the fall of 04 in addition to the USA dates in November and December. Barrage will also be returning to the USA in the spring of 05.

Since its creation in Calgary, Canada in 1996, Barrage has been featured many times at events worldwide having played for many Presidents, Prime Ministers and Princes. Barrage has also had their television productions aired on several international TV networks including the PBS network in the USA, the BBC in the UK and CBC in Canada and has performed live shows in New Zealand, Singapore, Taiwan, China, Canada, Finland, Sweden, Ireland, Denmark, Poland, Germany, Norway, Monaco, the USA and the UK.
