Zahi A. Fayad

Zahi A. Fayad is a professor of Radiology and Medicine (Cardiology) at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where he holds the Lucy G. Moses Professorship in Medical Imaging and Bioengineering. Fayad is the founding director of the Biomedical Engineering and Imaging Institute and vice chair for research in the Department of Radiology. His work focuses on multimodality biomedical imaging, nanomedicine, and the detection and prevention of cardiovascular disease. Fayad's research bridges engineering and biology, spanning pre-clinical and clinical investigations, and includes studies on the impact of stress on the immune system and cardiovascular health.

Fayad has received honors such as the Mount Sinai Jacobi Medallion, recognition as a Highly Cited Researcher by Clarivate Analytics, and fellowships from organizations including the American Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology. He has mentored more than 100 postdoctoral fellows, clinical fellows, and students, many of whom have advanced to roles in academia and industry. Fayad's expertise in medical imaging and cardiovascular research is frequently featured at scientific assemblies and in peer-reviewed publications.
