Wendy T. Behary

Wendy T. Behary, LCSW, is recognized for her expertise in narcissism and schema therapy, with more than three decades of post-graduate clinical experience. Behary is the founder and director of The Cognitive Therapy Center of New Jersey and The Schema Therapy Institutes of NJ-NYC and DC. Her private practice focuses on treating individuals with narcissistic personality traits, their partners, and couples experiencing relationship challenges. Behary has served on the faculty of the Cognitive Therapy Center and Schema Therapy Institute of New York, where she trained and collaborated with Dr. Jeffrey Young.

Behary is the author of the book "Disarming the Narcissist: Surviving and Thriving with the Self-Absorbed," which has been translated into 16 languages and was selected by Oprah Daily as a top resource on narcissism. She has contributed chapters on schema therapy for narcissism published by Wiley and APA Press. In addition to her clinical work, Behary provides coaching in interviewing, public speaking, and interpersonal skills development.

Behary is a founding fellow and consulting supervisor for The Academy of Cognitive Therapy and has held leadership roles with the International Society of Schema Therapy, including serving as president of the executive board and as training and certification coordinator. She chairs the Schema Therapy Development Programs Sub-Committee for the ISST.

Behary lectures nationally and internationally on schema therapy, narcissism, interpersonal relationships, anger management, and conflict resolution. Her work includes speaking engagements for industry and business audiences, focusing on interpersonal conflict resolution.
