Vanessa Gonzalez

Vanessa Gonzalez is a Texas-born stand-up comedian known for her sharp storytelling and personal humor. After earning a theater degree from Texas State University, Gonzalez began her comedy career with the Latino Comedy Project, where she explored improv and sketch comedy before focusing on stand-up. Prior to her professional comedy career, she taught preschool for six years, an experience that later influenced her web series and stand-up material.

Gonzalez began performing comedy in Austin and was recognized as Best Stand-up Comic by The Austin Chronicle before relocating to Los Angeles. She gained national attention as one of the New Faces at the Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal and went on to create and star in the web series "Ms. Vanessa" for Mas Mejor, a digital platform under Broadway Video. She has received multiple Best Stand-Up Comic in Austin accolades from The Austin Chronicle.

Her work includes a half-hour Comedy Central stand-up special and recognition by Vulture as one of the "Comedians You Should and Will Know." Gonzalez has appeared on TruTV's "Laff Mobb Laff Tracks," HBO Latino's "Entre Nos," and made her late-night debut on "A Little Late with Lilly Singh" on NBC. She was featured in Variety's "Top 10 Comics to Watch" list and released the comedy album "My Birthday's Tomorrow." Gonzalez has also opened for Chelsea Handler and developed projects for ABC.

Her television credits include the Netflix special "Verified Stand-Up" and the PBS docuseries "Roots of Comedy with Jesus Trejo," which explores her border-town roots and their influence on her comedy. She has performed at numerous festivals, including Big Sky Comedy Festival, SXSW, Austin Sketch Fest, Out of Bounds Comedy Festival, Trill Comedy Festival, Moontower Comedy & Oddity Fest, and Vancouver Sketch Fest.

Gonzalez's comedy is characterized by honesty and vulnerability, often addressing topics such as immigration, life as a woman in her 40s, and her upbringing in Laredo, Texas. With a perspective shaped by the Texas-Mexico border experience, Gonzalez continues to contribute a distinctive voice to American stand-up comedy.
