Tyson Gillies isn't just a former professional baseball player-he's a story of resilience, determination, and inspiration that has captured the hearts of fans around the world.
Hailing from Vancouver, Canada, Gillies was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the 25th round of the 2006 Major League Baseball draft. A proud graduate of R.E. Mountain Secondary School in Langley, British Columbia, he also represented his country as a member of the Canadian national baseball team.
Gillies's journey hasn't been without challenges. Diagnosed at age four with a hearing impairment that left him with only 30% hearing in one ear and 50% in the other, he learned to navigate the world with hearing aids and lip reading-turning what could have been a limitation into a source of strength and determination.
Today, Gillies is the co-founder of T21 Performance Inc., where he mentors and trains the next generation of athletes, sharing the lessons he's learned on and off the field. He inspires audiences as a motivational speaker and advocates tirelessly for the deaf and hard-of-hearing community.
Most recently, Gillies showcased his adventurous spirit and competitive edge as a finalist on "The Amazing Race Canada."
