Trisha Shetty

Trisha Shetty is a social activist, human rights lawyer, and global advocate for gender equality and democracy. She is the founder of SheSays, an NGO empowering youth and civic society for equality. Under her leadership, SheSays successfully lobbied the Indian Government to make sanitary napkins tax-free and launched #LahuKaLagaan, the world’s largest social media campaign on menstrual hygiene, now a widely cited case study.

Shetty has been recognized internationally for her work: she received a medal from Her Majesty, The Late Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace for her contributions to women's rights. She currently serves as President of the Steering Committee of the Paris Peace Forum, an initiative led by President Emmanuel Macron to promote global governance.

She has also contributed to global policy and women's empowerment initiatives, including:

• Serving on the high-level advisory committee for Olof Palme’s Independent Commission on Disarmament and Security Issues

• Being part of the high-level delegation alongside Hillary Clinton, Michelle Bachelet, Julia Gillard, and Ellen Johnson Sirleaf to draft the Beijing+25 report; launched by the Georgetown Institute and Rockefeller Foundation

• Sitting on the Global Advisory Council of the Museum of the United Nations, UN Live

In addition, Shetty has been recognized for her leadership and innovation across fields: she was an Obama Scholar at Columbia University, named Vogue’s Woman of the Year, included in Forbes 30 Under 30, and is a TED speaker. She also served on the ANDAM jury with Gigi Hadid, a fashion award established by the French Ministry of Culture. Shetty also appears regularly as a political commentator on news channels including Al Jazeera, France 24, Times of India, India Today.
