Tracy Austin

Tracy Austin is a former world No. 1 tennis champion, Hall of Fame athlete, sports commentator, and one of the most accomplished players in the history of women’s tennis. Known for her powerful baseline game, competitive spirit, and remarkable achievements at a young age, Austin helped redefine the sport during the late 1970s and early 1980s.

Born in Palos Verdes, California, Austin became a tennis prodigy, winning the U.S. Open mixed doubles title at age 16 and turning professional shortly afterward. In 1979, at just 16 years old, she became the youngest player ever to win the U.S. Open singles championship, defeating legends of the sport on her way to the title. She later captured a second U.S. Open singles championship in 1981 and reached the No. 1 ranking in the world in both singles and doubles.
