Tony Weaver Jr. is a writer, voice actor, educator, and social impact entrepreneur whose work focuses on storytelling, mental health advocacy, and youth empowerment. After experiencing racism and bullying in his teens, Weaver found solace in manga and graphic novels, which influenced his commitment to creating stories that promote acceptance and hope for those who feel marginalized. He graduated from Elon University with degrees in theatre arts and strategic communication, using this foundation to build a career centered on creative storytelling and social impact.
Weaver founded Weird Enough Productions, a social impact organization dedicated to using graphic novels to foster self-awareness, social responsibility, and agency among students. As founder and CEO, Weaver has transformed his passion for comic books, anime, and video games into a platform that reaches more than 1.5 million young people annually. The organization, which began as a school project, has grown into a national platform recognized on the TED stage and by public figures including Taraji P. Henson, LeBron James, and Lena Waithe.
Weaver is the creator of "The UnCommons," a webcomic series with over 2.5 million readers. Excerpts of "The UnCommons" are on display at The Harvey B. Gantt Center for African American Arts and Culture, and the series is in development as an animated project by NBA Champion Dwyane Wade. Weaver is also the author of "Weirdo," a middle-grade graphic novel memoir illustrated by Jes and Cin Wibowo. "Weirdo" received nominations for the Harvey and Eisner Awards and was named Best Book of the Year by Kirkus, Publishers Weekly, People Magazine, The Chicago Public Library, and The New York Public Library.
Weaver became the first comic writer selected for the Forbes 30 Under 30. His writing has earned recognition as a Global Barrier Breaker by Marriott International, a History Shaker by Coca-Cola, recipient of The Aspire Award by WarnerMedia, Champion for Change by CNN, and the Elevate Prize for Antiracism in Technology by MIT. Funko profiled Weaver as the first public figure featured on the side of a Funko Pop Figure Box.
Weaver has expanded into voice acting, portraying Section 9 sniper Saito in Prime Video's English dub of "The Ghost in the Shell" and previously voicing Nishimura in "Snowball Earth." He holds a BFA in acting and has built a following on TikTok, where he addresses media narratives and supports youth empowerment. Across multiple platforms, Weaver demonstrates the impact of storytelling in mental health, education, and youth advocacy.
