Tony Abou-Ganim

Tony Abou-Ganim is recognized as a pioneering bar professional and beverage consultant with significant contributions to the field of mixology. Abou-Ganim began his career in the bar industry under the guidance of his cousin Helen David at the Brass Rail Bar, where he developed a foundation in classic cocktails and professional bartending. After college, he worked at Jack Slick's Balboa Café and participated in the opening of Harry Denton's in San Francisco, before moving to New York City to serve as the opening bartender at Po, Mario Batali's first restaurant.

Abou-Ganim later returned to San Francisco to open Harry Denton's Starlight Room at the Sir Francis Drake Hotel, where he created his first specialty cocktail menu, featuring original recipes such as the Sunsplash, Starlight, and the Cable Car. He was selected by Steve Wynn to develop the cocktail program at Bellagio Las Vegas, where he designed original cocktails for the resort's 22 bars and oversaw beverage operations for 200 bartenders. His work at Bellagio contributed to establishing Las Vegas as a destination for cocktail culture and set new standards for beverage programs in large-scale hospitality.

Abou-Ganim has authored books including "The Modern Mixologist: Contemporary Classic Cocktails," which explores spirits and ingredients for both professional and amateur bartenders, and "Vodka Distilled," which examines vodka brands, history, and cocktail recipes. He hosted the Fine Living program "Raising the Bar: America's Best Bar Chefs" and has appeared on national television shows such as "TODAY," "Iron Chef America," "Good Morning America," CNBC, and FOX News. Abou-Ganim is a winner of the Bacardi Martini World Grand Prix and has claimed victory in three "Iron Chef America" competitions, collaborating with chefs including Mario Batali and Jose Garces.

His collaborations include work with Caesars Palace, T-Mobile Arena, Allegiant Stadium, and Lumen Field in Seattle. He is a partner at Highlands Steakhouse in Detroit, where he contributes to the beverage program. Abou-Ganim was invited by James Beard Award-winning chef Shawn McClain to lead the cocktail program at Libertine Social at Mandalay Bay. He co-announced the inaugural TAG Global Spirits Awards, a comprehensive global spirits competition, and has served as a judge and Director of Judging for the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. As a National Ambassador of the United States Bartenders Guild and Governing Board member of the Center for Culinary Culture, Abou-Ganim continues to educate others about the history and craft of cocktails, maintaining a prominent role in the world of mixology and beverage consulting.
