Tom Pelphrey

Tom Pelphrey is an actor whose career spans television, film, and theater. Pelphrey earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in acting from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University and studied Shakespeare at the Globe Theatre in London. His first professional role was on the CBS daytime drama "Guiding Light," where he portrayed Jonathan Randall and won multiple Daytime Emmy Awards.

Following his work in daytime television, Pelphrey focused on stage and independent film. He became a founding member and artistic director of the Apothecary Theatre Company, a New York City-based nonprofit dedicated to developing and producing new plays by emerging playwrights. The company produced the world premiere of "In God's Hat." Pelphrey made his Broadway debut as Micky Deans in "End of the Rainbow," a play about the final days of Judy Garland, and also appeared in "Fool for Love" alongside Sam Rockwell and Nina Arianda.

Pelphrey returned to television with roles that showcased his range as a dramatic actor. He played Kurt Bunker, a former neo-Nazi seeking redemption, on Cinemax's action drama "Banshee," and later portrayed Ward Meachum in Marvel's "Iron Fist." His role as Ben Davis in the Netflix series "Ozark" brought him critical recognition, earning nominations for the Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, the Satellite Award for Best Supporting Actor, and the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series. Pelphrey received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for his guest appearance in the final season of "Ozark."

In film, Pelphrey was cast as Joseph Mankiewicz in David Fincher's "Mank," which received multiple Academy Award nominations. He also appeared in the HBO miniseries "Love & Death" as Don Crowder and won Best Actor at the Bucharest Film Awards and the Manchester International Film Festival for his performance in the film "Jill."

Pelphrey starred in "Task" on HBO, playing Robbie Prendergrast, a single father and garbageman who becomes a masked robber. The series received critical acclaim and multiple Primetime Emmy Award nominations, including an acting nomination for Pelphrey. HBO renewed "Task" for a second season, further establishing Pelphrey's reputation in the television industry for his work in drama and crime series.
