Tina L. Vick

Tina L. Vick is a bestselling author, motivational speaker, community activist, elected official, and real estate entrepreneur. Vick was the recipient of the first public housing scholarship, which enabled her to obtain a college education and develop a strong work ethic. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in communications from Virginia Commonwealth University and later attended Alpha College of Real Estate, becoming a licensed real estate agent. Vick is the owner and principal real estate broker of Tina L. Vick Realty, LLC.

Vick is the author of "Growing Up Vick: The Strength and Resilience of the Vick Family," which explores the challenges of being related to a high-profile NFL athlete and addresses the impact of the Mike Vick dog-fighting case. She was featured on the national television show "ESPN 30 for 30, Vick," a documentary about former NFL quarterback Michael Vick.

Vick was elected to her local city council and has worked to transform her district, advocating for new housing and the creation of apartment units for mixed-income families. She led efforts to obtain three new housing complexes in the South District, including Noland Green Apartments, Heritage Forest Apartments, and Brennan Pointe Apartments. Vick has been re-elected for a fourth term in office and served as vice mayor for two terms.

Vick is the founder and CEO of "Girls Camp" for teenage girls in Newport News, which provides decision-making and life skills training through her nonprofit, Women's Empowerment Development, Incorporated. The organization received the Governor's Virginia Statewide Business District Resurgence Grant Award. Her advocacy for investment in underserved areas has contributed to city revenue growth, infrastructure improvements, and increased economic development, including a $30 million grant from HUD to repurpose public housing units in Ridley Circle.
