Tim Sloan

Tim Sloan is vice chairman and head of commercial real estate debt at Fortress Investment Group, where he contributes to the firm's investment strategies and serves on its leadership committee, several investment committees, and both the Environmental, Social and Governance and Diversity & Inclusion committees. With a career spanning decades in the financial sector, Sloan has expertise in credit and real estate markets, as well as experience in managing complex, distressed asset environments. His insights into market cycles and risk management have appeared in industry publications, highlighting his role in commercial real estate finance and investment management.

Before joining Fortress, Sloan held executive roles at Wells Fargo & Company, including chief administrative officer, chief financial officer, chief operating officer, and chief executive officer and president. He oversaw the operations of the company’s major business groups, led the wholesale banking division, and managed functions such as financial reporting, asset liability management, and investor relations. Sloan guided Wells Fargo through periods of transformation and challenge, with a focus on operational efficiency and risk management.

In addition to his executive roles, Sloan is active in academic and cultural organizations. He serves as chair of the investment committee on the board of trustees at the California Institute of Technology, is a member of the board of governors at the Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens, and sits on the advisory board of the University of Michigan Ross School of Business. Sloan’s board service and public speaking engagements reflect his involvement in finance, governance, and community leadership, and he is a frequent participant at industry conferences and forums.
