Thomas Moore is recognized for his contributions to contemporary spirituality and depth psychology, notably as the author of "Care of the Soul," a New York Times bestseller that remained on the list for nearly a year. Moore has written more than 30 books addressing topics such as integrating soul into personal life and culture, deepening spirituality, humanizing medicine, finding meaningful work, exploring sexuality with soul, and reimagining religion. Moore's intellectual and spiritual background is rooted in diverse experiences. At age 13, he entered the prep seminary of the Servites, a Roman Catholic lay order, where he studied philosophy and music. He left the order after 13 years, choosing not to become an ordained priest, but the monastic experience significantly influenced his worldview. Moore holds a Ph.D. in religious studies from Syracuse University and degrees in music composition and theology. He practiced as a psychotherapist in Dallas, Texas, and New England before transitioning to full-time writing and international lecturing on spirituality, ecology, psychotherapy, and religion following the success of "Care of the Soul" and its companion volume, "Soul Mates: Honoring the Mysteries of Love and Relationship."
