Tamara Day

Tamara Day is a television host, interior designer, and entrepreneur recognized for her role in "Bargain Mansions," a home renovation series that has aired on DIY Network, HGTV, and Magnolia Network. The series follows Day as she renovates neglected homes, blending contemporary design with original architectural details. With experience renovating more than 50 houses and appearing on multiple networks, "Bargain Mansions" is among the few DIY Network shows to transition to HGTV and later to Magnolia Network.

Day holds a degree in communications from Kansas State University. Her entry into home renovation began in childhood and intensified during the housing downturn, when she and her husband managed several rental properties. Facing financial challenges, Day took a hands-on approach to renovation, often working alongside professionals and sourcing materials from estate sales. This experience led to the creation of Growing Days, her business focused on interior design, furniture, décor, and lifestyle products.

On "Bargain Mansions," Day collaborates with her father, Ward Schraeder, to restore historic homes while maintaining their character. Her design philosophy, which she describes as "laid back luxe," emphasizes a balance of comfort and style, ensuring spaces are both functional and visually appealing. Before hosting "Bargain Mansions," Day contributed to the DIY Network show "Ultimate Retreat," working with industry experts Jason Cameron, Matt Blashaw, and Mark Bowe.

In addition to her television work, Day leads Tamara Day Design, offering services in interior design, furniture, and décor. She has received a Pinnacle Award for floor coverings and decorative accessories. Day is also the author of the book "Laid-Back Luxe," which provides insights into home renovation, design, and lifestyle, guiding readers through various spaces and design styles.

Day is a frequent speaker at home shows, industry events, and trade markets, sharing expertise in home renovation, interior design, and DIY projects. She has been a main stage speaker at the Greater Kansas City Home & Lifestyle Show and has appeared at Coverings, a leading tile and stone industry event. With multiple seasons of television, a published design book, and a national speaking presence, Day is a recognized figure in the home renovation and interior design industry.
