Sydney Leroux

Sydney Leroux's journey in professional soccer began at a tender age of 15, when she made her debut with the Vancouver Whitecaps, setting a record as the team's youngest player. Her talent was evident and soon caught the attention of the Atlanta Beat, who made her their number one pick in the 2012 WPS Draft. After a brief stint with the Seattle Sounders Women following the suspension of WPS, Leroux made her NWSL debut with the Boston Breakers in 2013. Over the years, she has played for several teams, including Seattle Reign FC, Western New York Flash, FC Kansas City, and Orlando Pride, before finally settling at Angel City FC.

Throughout her career, Leroux has consistently demonstrated exceptional prowess on the field. Notably, she was the first player to ever score a hat trick in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) while playing for the Boston Breakers. She also contributed to Seattle Reign FC's record-setting unbeaten streak of 16 games in the 2014 NWSL season. Her remarkable performances have seen her rank among the top 10 all-time scorers in NWSL history, and in 2024, she achieved two significant milestones: making her 150th NWSL regular-season appearance and scoring the 100th goal in Angel City's club history.

Leroux's contribution to the United States National Soccer team has been equally impactful. She was part of the victorious team at the 2012 London Olympics and the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup. Her outstanding performance in the 2008 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup earned her the Golden Boot and Golden Ball awards. Off the field, Leroux has used her platform to advocate against racial abuse and has been featured in various media outlets, including ESPN's "Living Her Dream" and Canada's "Breakfast Television".
