Sydney Loren Bennett, professionally known as Syd (formerly Syd tha Kyd), is a groundbreaking singer-songwriter, producer, DJ, and engineer from Los Angeles. She first gained prominence as the only woman and vocal presence in the influential hip-hop collective Odd Future, where she also played live DJ and recorded much of the group’s early work in her home studio. In 2011, she co-founded the alternative-R&B band The Internet with Matt Martians, helping craft their lush, jazz-inflected sound. The group earned critical acclaim and a Grammy nod for their 2015 album *Ego Death."

Syd launched her solo career in 2017 with the album Fin, which earned praise for its intimate, sensual tone and solidified her evolution from behind-the-scenes producer to a confident front-facing artist. She continued exploring themes of love and self-reflection with the 2017 EP Always Never Home and followed up in 2022 with Broken Hearts Club, a deeply personal project born from heartbreak.

An out lesbian, Syd's been credited with helping shift conversations around LGBTQ+ representation in rap. Beyond her own albums, her resume includes features with Lil Uzi Vert, Zayn, Disclosure, Beyoncé (“Plastic Off the Sofa”), and collaborations with Mac Miller, Kaytranada, and others.
