Svein Tore Holsether

Svein Tore Holsether is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Yara International, a leading global crop nutrition and sustainable agriculture company dedicated to responsibly feeding the world and protecting the planet. He has held the role since 2015, steering Yara’s strategy toward sustainable value growth, climate‑smart farming solutions, and reduced emissions across the food value chain.

A passionate advocate for sustainable development and climate action, Holsether champions the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals as drivers of innovation and inclusive growth. He has served as Chair of the Food & Nature program for the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, is a member of the Alliance of CEO Climate Leaders at the World Economic Forum, and has held leadership roles in industry groups focused on advancing environmentally responsible practices. In 2021, he was elected President of the Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise, Norway’s largest business federation.

Holsether’s career also includes senior executive positions in major industrial companies prior to joining Yara. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Management from the University of Utah, equipping him with a strong foundation in strategic leadership and global business.

Under his leadership, Yara continues to advance innovations in precision farming, low‑emission fertilizers, and sustainable agricultural systems that support resilient food systems and long‑term environmental stewardship.
