Steve McCulley

Steve McCulley is a British entrepreneur, racing driver, and inspirational speaker whose life story is marked by resilience, innovation, and a deep passion for cycling.

McCulley began his professional journey as a commissioned officer in the Royal Marines, serving for nearly 18 years. His military career included deployments to Northern Ireland, Kosovo, Iraq, and Afghanistan. In 2011, while commanding 175 marines during a tour in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, he was severely injured by an improvised explosive device (IED). The explosion left him in a coma for nearly three weeks and required over two years of intensive physical rehabilitation.

During his recovery, McCulley channeled his lifelong passion for cycling into entrepreneurship. In 2012, he founded LIOS Bikes, a company specializing in bespoke carbon and titanium bicycles. The brand has built a reputation for high-performance bikes used in events like the Ironman Triathlon World Championships.

After his military service, McCulley also pursued a career in motorsport. He has competed in over 150 races and holds an ARDS 'A Grade' Instructor certification.
