Sinéad Burke

Sinéad Burke is an Irish writer, educator, and globally recognized advocate for accessibility and inclusion whose work sits at the intersection of education, design, and social justice. From her earliest days in primary school, Burke understood the transformative power of education as a tool to challenge inequality and expand opportunity. Driven by a desire to create classrooms where every child feels represented, heard, and safe, she pursued a career in teaching—overcoming the limiting notion that “if you can’t see it, you can’t be it.” Her academic excellence culminated in graduating at the top of her class from Trinity College Dublin, where she was awarded the prestigious Vere Foster Medal.

Burke has since built a multifaceted career as a writer, public speaker, and lecturer, using her platform to highlight systemic gaps in inclusivity—particularly within the fashion and design industries. Through her work, she challenges organizations to embed accessibility into their core practices, ensuring that products and environments are designed for, with, and by disabled people. She also interrogates how media narratives shape perceptions of women, offering a more empowering alternative through her “Extraordinary Women” interview series, which celebrates the achievements and perspectives of trailblazing individuals.

Her advocacy has taken her to classrooms, corporate offices, government institutions, and even the White House, where she facilitates candid conversations about disability, education, and equity. Across these spaces, Burke is committed to amplifying voices that are often overlooked and urging leaders to prioritize the needs of the most marginalized when shaping policy and practice.

In 2020, Burke founded Tilting the Lens, a consultancy dedicated to creating accessible and equitable solutions through education, advocacy, and design. Leading a dynamic team, she has partnered with global brands including Gucci, Ralph Lauren, Netflix, Pinterest, and Starbucks. Across all her work, Burke consistently poses a critical question: “Is this accessible?”—a guiding principle that continues to shape her impact on industries worldwide.
