Shreya Patel

Shreya Patel is a Canadian model-turned-actress, filmmaker, writer, and mental health advocate whose career integrates storytelling with social impact. Patel has been recognized with honors including the Top 100 Most Powerful Women of Canada (Arts, Sports, and Entertainment Category), Forbes 30 Under 30 (Media Category), Top 25 Canadian Immigrant Award, Women's Achiever Award (Youth Leadership Category), and CSPN Emerging Leader Award Under 35. She received an honorable mention from the City of Toronto for advancing equity and was named among the Top 50 Coolest South Asians by DissDash, alongside Priyanka Chopra, Kamala Harris, and Hasan Minaj.

As a filmmaker, Patel is known for addressing social issues through documentary work. Her directorial debut, the documentary "Girl Up," explores domestic violence and human trafficking and has been recognized by organizations focused on sexual assault, anti-human trafficking, and law enforcement. The Toronto International Film Festival partnered to showcase the film at the Civic Action Summit, where it was used to initiate discussions on combating human trafficking, followed by a panel with national security officials, elected officials, business executives, and community advocates. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Patel directed the documentary "Unity – #LOVESPREADS Faster Than A Virus," which brought together more than 100 cast members across 66 countries and six continents and reached over 1 million views. The film served as the closing film at the Munich International Film Festival.

As an actress, Patel has appeared in lead roles in short films, improv theater productions, and in series such as Netflix's "Grand Army" and FX's "Mrs. America." A graduate of Toronto's Second City Conservatory, she has contributed to writers' rooms for comedy pilots and worked as a producer in pre-production. Her music video directorial debut, "Freedom Dance," garnered over 1.2 million views on YouTube, depicting inner freedom during lockdown.

Patel's mental health advocacy is informed by her personal experiences, including overcoming severe anxiety. She was featured in the Canadian Screen Award-winning national mental health awareness campaign "Bell Let's Talk," contributing to efforts to reduce stigma around mental illness. Patel has been recognized by Global Affairs Canada for her mental health activism and has participated in panels and collaborations with organizations to discuss mental health and recovery in supportive environments.

In addition to her work in film and television, Patel is a community builder and entrepreneur. As founder and co-CEO of Window Dreams Productions Inc., she focuses on elevating underrepresented voices in the industry. She also founded reVnt – Discover You, an initiative empowering youth who have survived trauma through art-based workshops on topics such as bullying, body image, and mental health. Patel has trained as a Kids Help Line Phone Text Responder, providing support to children in crisis. Her career spans documentary filmmaking, acting, advocacy, and entrepreneurship, positioning her as a prominent voice at the intersection of storytelling, resilience, and social change.
