Shawn Harper

Shawn Harper is recognized for his journey from overcoming academic and personal challenges to achieving success in professional football, business, and motivational speaking. After facing multiple learning disabilities and a stutter during his early education, Harper attended North Iowa Area Community College, where he earned Hall of Fame honors. He later graduated from Indiana University with degrees in criminal justice and sociology before being drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in the fourth round of the NFL Draft. Harper's NFL career included playing for the Rams, Houston Oilers, Indianapolis Colts, and three seasons in NFL Europe with the Amsterdam Admirals and Frankfurt Galaxy, spanning seven seasons in total.

Following his football career, Harper founded American Services and Protection, a security firm based in Columbus, Ohio. Under his leadership, the company has become one of the state's largest minority-owned security service providers. Harper applies principles from his athletic background, such as teamwork, strategy, and disciplined execution, to his business operations, emphasizing their relevance in corporate leadership and organizational development.

In addition to his entrepreneurial work, Harper is an internationally recognized keynote speaker and corporate leadership strategist. With more than 25 years of professional speaking experience, he has worked with organizations including Procter & Gamble, FedEx, JPMorgan Chase, Dow, and Sonic. Harper developed the Winner's Culture Framework, which focuses on reducing burnout, improving retention, and building effective teams within organizations. His expertise in leadership, team building, and organizational culture has made him a sought-after consultant for Fortune 500 companies, national associations, and educational institutions.

Harper is the author of "The Winning Edge: 8 Principles That Will Bring Out the Winner in You" and "The Winologist," both of which explore the psychology of winning and personal development. He also hosts the podcast "From The Locker Room To The Boardroom," featuring insights from professional athletes, business leaders, and others who have applied winning strategies in various fields. Harper has contributed to his community through service on the Central Ohio Salvation Army Advisory Board and by co-chairing the Christmas Kettle volunteer program.
